SAME DAY. GLOBAL VOICE. ONE PLANET.

GLOBAL CYPHER DAY

More Than a Cypher. A Global Movement.

Same Day. Global Voice. One Planet. Global Cypher Day (GCD) is a global hip-hop movement where communities around the world host cyphers on the same day and use hip-hop to speak about important global issues. Started by Rajasthan Hip-Hop Center (RHC), the long-term vision is to make GCD a permanent annual global hip-hop initiative.

CULTURE & COMMUNITY

What is GCD?

The cypher is at the heart of GCD - bringing artists and communities together while giving local voices a shared global platform. GCD is about culture, awareness, unity and collective action, not simply an event.

FROM RAJASTHAN TO THE WORLD

Rajasthan Hip-Hop Center

Founded by Naresh Kumar Verma (Emcee NRS), Rajasthan Hip-Hop Center (RHC) is a grassroots initiative dedicated to building Rajasthan’s Hip-Hop ecosystem and creating opportunities for artists and communities.

In July 2021, RHC launched Jaipur Hip-Hop Cypher, which grew into Rajasthan Hip-Hop Cypher - a community platform bringing rappers, beatboxers, dancers, and Hip-Hop enthusiasts together. Through 100 consecutive cyphers, RHC created space for freestyle, collaboration, artistic development, and cultural expression. Several artists who began their journeys at these cyphers are now making their mark on India’s national Hip-Hop scene.

In December 2024, on the occasion of RHC’s 100th cypher, Naresh Kumar Verma (EMCEE NRS) initiated Global Cypher Day (GCD) under Rajasthan Hip-Hop Center. GCD connects Hip-Hop communities worldwide through a shared spirit of Love, Peace, Unity, and Climate Action.

2024: 20 locations across 3 countries.

2025: 30+ communities across 4 countries, with a growing climate-awareness focus.

2026: 3 continents, 5 countries, 45+ cities, and 55+ cypher communities.

As the founder of both Rajasthan Hip-Hop Center and Global Cypher Day, Naresh Kumar Verma continues to build connections between grassroots Hip-Hop communities and create platforms for collective expression and action.

From local cyphers in Rajasthan to a growing global movement, RHC is building a stronger, more connected future for Hip-Hop

RHC has expanded its work through initiatives such as Shaam-e-HipHop, Hip-Hop Darbar, Rajasthan Hip-Hop Collective, and NRS Hip-Hop Skool, supporting artist development and promoting Rajasthan’s languages, culture, and identity.

From Rajasthan to the World: Global Cypher Day

Community-Led. Street-Powered.

Global Cypher Day is built on principles of raw concrete authenticity, decentralized leadership, and collective action, ensuring the movement remains true to its roots.

Raw Authenticity

The cypher circle remains Hip-Hop's most raw, equalized space for dialogue and creative action, free from corporate influence.

Every year, a different hip-hop community Host the global initiative, fostering true grassroots coordination and ownership.

Beyond expression, we channel the cypher's energy into street-level campaigns and social impact, uniting voices for change.

Decentralized Power

Collective Action

OUR CORE BELIEFS

LONG-TERM GOAL

Build a Global Hip-Hop Network That Lasts.

GCD aims to become bigger than one person. The movement should continue, grow and be led by communities even when the current founder or team is no longer personally managing it.

The 2026 Evolution

1 Lead Community + Participant Communities

Schedule Shift to October

Every year, a new community gets the opportunity to lead GCD. The Core Team provides the toolkit, guidelines, coordination and support, while local communities organize their own cyphers.

From 2026, GCD moves from 3rd sunday of December to 2nd sunday of October. This timing aligns global street actions with optimal international organizing schedules.

Cap City Cyphers

Cap City Cyphers builds community through improvisational Hip-Hop, creating a space to amplify vulnerable voices - including Black, Indigenous, and people of colour, 2SLGBTQ+ communities, newcomers, and people living in poverty - to express our art, our stories, and our truths. Through freestyle cyphers, we foster connection, creativity, and healing in Ottawa’s growing Hip-Hop scene.

Since 2018, Cap City Cyphers has been working to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive freestyle Hip-Hop community in Ottawa, giving Strategically Undervalued Artists an inviting space to sharpen their craft and build community. Now, we are taking the next steps to bring the Cap City Cyphers energy on the road and connect Ottawa’s artists with freestyle communities and Hip-Hop audiences across Canada and beyond.
